Geocache Description:

[PL] Dawny sierociniec w stylu neogotyckim.
[EN] Former orphanage in neo-Gothic style.

[PL] Przy ulicy Rakowieckiej pod numerem 21 wznosi sie ciekawy budynek w stylu neogotyckim. Jest to dawny Dom Sierot Dziewczat. Sierociniec wraz z budynkami gospodarczymi zostal wzniesiony dla Warszawskiego Towarzystwa Dobroczynnosci w latach 1899-1901 wedlug projektu architekta Wladyslawa Adolfa Kozlowskiego. . Czterokondygnacyjny gmach na planie z litery H, wybudowany z czerwonej cegly, choc dzis zaniedbany, nadal robi wrazenie. A jeszcze wieksze musial wywierac, na poczatku XX-wieku, kiedy to samotnie górowal nad wiejska wówczas okolica Mokotowa. Budowe Domu w znacznej czesci sfinansowal kupiec i filantrop Edward P. Czaban (1819-1897).

[EN] At 21 Rakowiecka street, stands a interesting building in the neo-Gothic style - it is a former Girls Orphanage. Orphanage and the outbuildings had been erected for the Warsaw Charitable Society in the years 1899-1901 by the architect Adolf Wladyslaw Kozlowski. Four-storey building on the plan with the letter H, built of red brick, though now neglected, is still impressive. Four-storey building on the plan with the letter H, built of red brick, though now neglected, is still impressive. And an even greater need to exercise, at the beginning of the twentieth century, when alone towered above the rural areas of Mokotów.

After the Second-war in the building was located House Early Childhood and Children's Home No. 4, and now is used mainly for administrative and office - I do not know if anyone lives there permanently.

Cache was hidden under one of the trees growing in the orphanage.

The area is not available at night and in weekends and holidays, so I recommend undertaking of the weekdays - in the afternoon, practically no one's there.
