The Muppet Show, a half-hour long musical comedy variety show, aired on TV from 1976-1981. The action in each episode included onstage acts and frantic backstage activity among emcee Kermit the Frog, his Muppet friends and a live celebrity. The creation of puppeteer Jim Henson, The Muppet Show introduced us to many endearing characters, many of whom are being celebrated with caches in and around the Whitnall Park/Root River Parkway area.
Hired as The Muppet Show's gofer since his uncle owned the theatre, Scooter initially used his family connection to his advantage. In time, he abandoned this scheming and became a confidant to Kermit. Scooter often took advice from Floyd Pepper and actually thought Fozzie's schtick was “bearable.” Rarely seen on stage, Scooter's primary role is backstage and cuing the guests “15 seconds to curtain.” Scooter has a sprout of orange hair, wears eyeglasses and a green track jacket.
