Enjoy a hike on a newly created trail that skirts the edges of the old Mathy quarry in places. You'll find yourself high above the surrounding landscape, the trail becoming more narrow toward the end. Stay on the trail; this isn't called "valley view" for nothing! This is a beautiful hike in any season, but the best views will of course be during those times of year when the leaves are off the trees.
Park at the parking coordinates, then begin your trek following the well marked trail that starts beyond the gate to the left of the parking area. You will be enjoying a moderate hike with just a couple gentle grades along the way. Please don't try to access this from County B, as that would require you to cross private property and the hike would be much more challenging. Take in the remains of the old quarry operation along the way, while observing how nature is beginning to reclaim what is hers here.
Permission for placement of geocaches on this MVC owned land is graciously granted by Tim Jacobson, Executive Director, Mississippi Valley Conservancy. Thank you.
