Geocache Description:

The Gang is inviting any and everyone who shares an interest in the great sport of geocaching to come to our 4th Annual Spring Fling.

This year we will once again be utilizing Village Creek State Park.

The park opens at 8:00am. However, our reservation for the pavillion is not until 10:00am. We will try to begin setting up sometime around 8:15, and hopefully can begin registration by 9:00 AM.
Coordinates at the main entrance to the park are N30° 14.7977 W094° 10.8605.

Never been to an SETX Gang event? No problem! Here's a taste of what to expect:

* Potluck lunch - for more information, see below
* T-Shirts - we are pre-selling t-shirts that have been specially designed for this event (if you would like more information on ordering one, please contact Da Krewe at dakrewe@yahoo.com) We will have a handful of shirts available for sale on the day of the event, but to be sure to get the size you want, it's definitely best to pre-order!
* New caches - There are 4 new caches in the park that will published around the time of the event
* Kid caches Kid caches Kid caches - we are a family friendly group that includes lots of kids from little bitty ones all the way up to "grown up" ones. We will have special temporary caches in place the day of the event for the kids to find full of swag geared specifically for the kiddos.
* Geo-Poker Run - A geocacher's take on the standard poker run
* The infamous cache container contest (for more information see below)
* Auctions - we will be auctioning off a GPS and some pretty fancy ammo cans painted by members of the group
* Door prizes - this is pretty self explanatory!
* Swag bags! - Free stuff, just for showing up!
* The legendary Half the $cache$ pot- A geocacher's take on the classic Split the Pot

***Cache container contest***

For this event, we are bringing back the cache container contest, with a few slight changes.

We will not have multiple categories. This year we will lump all entries into one group and the judges will have their work cut out for them determining the 5 "best overall" caches. These top 5 caches will receive an award and be the envy of all their fellow geocachers! So get creative, get evil, or get cute - maybe even all 3 & see if you have what it takes to compete against your fellow geocachers for fame & swagfortune!

Guidelines: All entries will be received between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM Saturday, April 28th. No late entries will be accepted. There is no limit on the number of entries. All entries must be new, not previously hidden caches. Cache containers must be ready to hide, including a weather-proof log book or log sheet able to stand up to the elements without leaking or breaking. Name your cache but do NOT put your name on your cache. All cache containers entered into this Contest become property of the Contest. All containers will be raffled off at the event.

***Potluck Lunch***

We will be having a potluck lunch. The meat and bread will be provided, but the rest of the menu is up to you guys! If you would like to offer a dish, volunteer to bring supplies, or find out how you can contribute, please contact Mrs Da Krewe at DaKrewe@yahoo.com who will be more than happy to hear from you! (Note: Park rules state: No alcohol on premises - not that we need booze to have a good time!)

Due to the rules of the State Park system there is a daily park admission fee of $2 per day, per person 13 and older, children 12 and under are admitted free. You can also use the Texas State Parks Pass. There is NOT a "drive-up" window so they ask that you park in the adjacent parking lot and go in to get your day-pass. So, stop, park, and check-in at N30° 15.0317 W094° 10.7284.
