Elm Creek Tunnel
Warning: This cache has a 4 star terrain rating for a reason.
Do not attempt this cache while it is raining. Do not attempt this cache if there is any possibility of there being rain. Do not attempt this cache if a particularly large rainstorm that has occured recently.
You will be required to:
1. Be able to climb a bit (nothing terribly difficult though)
2. Do a bit of heavy lifting. A partner or two will help here.
2. Hike about 4-5 miles (assuming you're going there and back)
3. Have special equipment including:
- at least 3 GOOD flashlights with FULL batteries (if going alone), 2 or more per person if in a larger group (In fact, I very highly recommend you do this cache in a group)
- Waterproof shoes, galoshes, or shoes you don't mind getting wet in
- Clothes you aren't particularly fond of
- GPS (goes without saying)
- Snacks (I recommend it, but please do not litter)
4. Don't attempt this cache if there is ANY rain
This cache is NOT suitable for young children. Please do this cache in a group.
Also, tell someone you will be out looking for this cache before you leave home.
Alright, now that I'm done with all the warnings, let me reiterate:
DO NOT attempt this cache while it is raining or if there is any possibility of there being rain. You have been warned.
Now to business. Before I forget, this cache was hidden with some help from my good friend, Seth. This mystery cache starts in Centennial Park, however, the cache is NOT at the posted coordinates. Once you have reached the posted coordinates, you will need to do a bit of heavy lifting and downward climbing. If there is more than several inches of water, I recommend saving this cache for another day. Otherwise, head Southwest. Have fun, and don't expect your GPS or cellular devices to work while you're down there.
Once you have reached the other end, you can start searching for the cache. It will be located just outside. I recommend hiking back overground.
Please reread everything I've said twice. I know it's boring, but you don't want to miss something.
-- Edit --
It looks like my hiding skills weren't good enough, because the original has been muggled (I suspect it was a hobo). I've replaced it with a smaller cache at a different location. The hint has changed and I've upped the difficulty. And I forgot to add a pen so for now please bring one till I can go back and add one.
When you find it, please replace exactly as you found it and as securely as possible so it doesn't get washed away. Thanks!
