Bos Landen is on the west side of Pella, just west of the town and the airport, about an hour east of Des Moines. It's a great parkland style of layout, designed by Dick Phelps with 5 sets of tees for players of all skill levels, ranging from 5,100 to 7,000 yards in length with 73.5/131 ratings from the back tees. It always had been a good, affordable place to play, then went downhill a few years ago, but now appears to be back with new owners and managers. We played there last week, and enjoyed the golf course, the conditions were excellent, as was the value for the greens fees. The layout is challenging with some tight landing areas, and approaches to the greens. The course is not the best for the higher handicapper, can be difficult with a good amount of trees, water, sand, rolling hills, all things that add up strokes, but it's fun to play, and there's mostly golf and country surrounding most of the holes, save for a few houses.
