Geocache Description:

A cache in a Spinning Gum Reserve.

Spinning Gum: It's the juvenile delinquent of the Eucalypt world. Thrives on the plant-world equivalent of pizza and junk food and it never grows up.

Or, if you prefer a more scholarly description: "Eucalyptus perinniana (Spinning Gum) is a rare, distinctive mallee-form eucalypt that in Tasmania only grows on seasonally waterlogged areas on sandstone in the south-east. Its distinctive features are the very glaucous, sessile, opposite leaves which are fused around the stem. E. perinniana has blunt juvenile leaves. It flowers while still with juvenile leaves and rarely has adult leaves in the wild." (UTAS)

You can see these in the Spinning Gum Conservation Area near Colebrook in a small swamp area.

The parking area is just north of both the track (which is gated) and the swamp (which is mozzied).

The walk is about 20min one-way. Walk along the track and when it starts going down-hill head for the cache.

Dangers: Jack-Jumpers and very loose rocks near GZ. And the usual.
