Geocache Description:

Catamount mountain is one of the more unique "small" mountains that I have climbed. It's a fairly direct climb, around 1.8 miles one way. The first 0.7 is a breeze and the rest is up up and away.

I highly recommend reading the Related Web page or this article to see if this is a climb you want to tackle. There are several excellent views points well below the summit. The terrain is quite aggresive considering this summit is just shy of 3,200 feet, however the excellent views make it worth it. The mountain has a distinct double hump. The first hump has great views down below and spectacular views of the second and last hump the actual summit. Depending on your location you can easily spot fellow hikers either coming down or going up these humps. One of the neat characteristics of climbing up the first hump is going up the "chimney". It's a narrow pass in the surrounding rocks. The pictures don't really do it justice. It's unique and alot of fun to climb through. Have fun!!
