The Muppet Show, a half-hour long musical comedy variety show, aired on TV from 1976-1981. The action in each episode included onstage acts and frantic backstage activity among emcee Kermit the Frog, his Muppet friends and a live celebrity. The creation of puppeteer Jim Henson, The Muppet Show introduced us to many endearing characters, many of whom are being celebrated with caches in and around the Whitnall Park/Root River Parkway area.
Sam the Eagle
Sam the Eagle is the self-appointed protector of old-fashioned, wholesome American values. Although he is usually ignored, he tries very hard to stop the acts that he considers offensive or lacking culture. The only performers worthy of Sam’s respect are Wayne and Wanda. Unfortunately, Wayne and Wanda never seem to be able to finish a song without incident. Here’s a classic: Sam the Eagle.
