Near a contentious new bridge in Salmo
The Federal Government has a program called the Economic Action Plan.
This new bridge was built at a cost of $1.3 milion dollars under this program! There are only eight homes on this side of the bridge, all of which could be accessed from the other direction!
For a number of years, there was a "temporary" Bailey bridge at this site, but it had apparently reached its life span for vehicular traffic, so the decision to build this bridge came about.
Seems to me, a very, very, much cheaper, walking only bridge could have been built here. $1.3 million, hey thats over $160,000 per household -- something to think about!
