Geocache Description:

This cache will take you to the heart of Naples. Enjoy the city, her people and the monuments!

You will need 2-3 hours to complete the itinerary but we recommend you to spend all the morning or afternoon visiting the nice places described below.

STEP 1: N40 50.150’ E014 14.907’
A nice square to start the visit. Here you can visit both the Palace and the Church. You have to find :
- A: date in the façade of the church (use Arabic numbers)
- B: Number of coat of arms in the façade of the Palace.
- C: There are some kings in front of you, which is the place of Alfonso d’Aragona?

STEP 2: N40 50.380’ E014 14.917’
Walking through Via Toledo you will find a lot of palaces. In one of them you can admire the last painting of Caravaggio “Il martirio di Santa Ursula”. At the left side of the main gate there is the number 184.
- D: How many ducks can be seen in the coat od arms at the top of the gate?

STEP 3: N40 50.665’ E014 14.949’
Can you see the monument dedicated to Salvo d’Aquisto?
- E: Day of the month reported in the plaque.

STEP 4: N40 50.823’ E014 15.113’
A big square with a monument and two churches. Both worth a visit.
- F: Number of lamps surrounding the monument
- G: Number of letters of the inscription at the top of the newest church: “Non….salvs”.

STEP 5: N40 50.905’ E014 15.289’
You are walking by a street commonly called “Spaccanapoli” that’s to say “It cuts Naples” Do you realise why? You can also enjoy a monument to Nile River and a curious remembrance of a famous football player in front of it.
In the given coordinates there is monument and a church , where some kings of the Aragonese dynasty were buried.
- H: Year in the plaque of the monument
- I: Number of steps of the first part of the scale leading the church. From the street to the iron gate

STEP 6: N40 50.980’ E014 15.481’
You are in Via S. Gregorio Armeno. In this street you will see the most amazing nativities all over the world. If you are lucky, you will also see some craftsmen and women working on them.
- J: Civic number of the “Complesso Conventuale di S. Gregorio Armeno”

STEP 7: N40 51.063’ E014 15.446’
You are in the street cross between S. Gregorio Armeno and Via dei Tribunali. Just in front of the place where the Roman temple to Castor and Polux was erected. Can you see the Roman columns?
At the left of the church there is an entrance to Naples Underground, an amazing experience with a lot of surprises!
- K: number of angels surrounding the Saint in the monument of the square.
- L: Number of statues in the façade of the mentioned church. Can you infer the relation between the Roman and the Christian temples?

STEP 8: N40 51.033’ E014 15.345’
Don’t forget to touch one of the bronze skulls. It is Neapolitan tradition to pray for the death and get good luck!
- M: Number of bronze skulls.

There is a shortcut between Step 5 and 8 where you can visit the Capella San Severo. Don’t miss it!

Now, it’s time for a pizza in one of the most famous pizzerias of Naples and make some calculations to find the cache:
