EN: Ivan Vitić is one of the most important croatian architects. His name has been mentioned a lot lately, because one of his most important works, “Vitic’s Skyscraper” came into the spotlight. Because of neglect and years of lack of manteinence, it began to decompose , and the parts started to fall down. A huge wooden shutter (most of which are otherwise stuck for years) weighing over 100 kg broke off and collapsed on the children's park which is located immediately in front.
I went to elementary school in the same street, about 150m away, and we used to sit on the benches (the park was built only recently) before or after school. Back then, we did not know that the building was the cultural heritage, but even though the skyscraper was built in 1962, already then (I'm talking about 80’s, still very much Yugoslavia times), the building was not a glitter ...
It seems however that some money for repairs had been found, we'll see how this one will end ...
Apparently a lot of famous architects (Nenad Fabijanic, Boris Bakal and 3LHD) are living in the skyscraper, but I, non-architectural soul, just fail to see what's in this skyscraper that it is considered to be so fantastic.
In any case, the cache is placed in front of the skyscraper, so judge for yourself ...
HR: Ivan Vitić je jedan od najznačajnijih hrvatskih arhitekata. U zadnje vrijeme se dosta govori o njemu, jer je jedan od njegovih najpoznatijih radova, tzv. “Vitićev neboder”, došao u središte pažnje. Naime, zbog nebrige i dugogodišnjeg neodržavanja, neboder se počeo raspadati, a dijelovi počeli padati dolje. Jedna ogromna drvenja grilja (od kojih je inače većina zaglavljena već godinama) od preko 100 kg se otkačila i srušila na dječji park koji se nalazi odmah ispred. Ja sam išao u osnovnu školu u istoj ulici, nekih 150m dalje, i tu smo na klupicama (park je izgrađen tek nedavno) znali sjedati prije ili poslije škole. Tada nismo ni znali da je zgrada kulturno dobro, ali iako je neboder izgrađen 1962, već onda (govorim o godinama još debelo za vrijeme Jugoslavije) zgrada nije bila neko blještavilo...
Izgleda da je ipak nađeno nešto para za popravak, vidjet ćemo kako će to završiti...
Navodno dosta poznatih arhitekata (Nenad Fabijanić, Boris Bakal i 3LHD) i sami žive u ovom neboderu, no ja, ne-arhitektonska duša, jednostavno ne vidim što je u ovom neboderu toliko fantastično.
U svakom slučaju, cache je postavljen ispred nebodera, pa prosudite sami...
