Geocache Description:

Make sure to Stand your ground on this one.

Another in my on-going series of caches I will be placing that reference what I consider Essential Albums of My Life.

R.E.M. is the best band ever. Yes, this in one man's opinion, but I believe it to be the truth. At some point I will just be naming all my caches after R.E.M. albums the band means that much to me. Green was not my first R.E.M. (Automatic For The People), or my first favorite R.E.M. album (Fables Of The Reconstruction) but this one hits my hard. The first album on Warner Brothers, many longtime fans thought the band was selling out. They were wrong, Warner Brothers was the only label that offered them total creative control of their records, R.E.M. chose correctly. Guitarist Peter Bucks would say "We wrote major key rock songs and switched instruments." Singer Michael Stipe even told the band "not write any more R.E.M.-type songs." Experimental, poppy, serious, however you describe it, I hear something new every time I listen to it.

Essential Tracks:

Pop Song 89
Get Up
Stand
You Are the Everything
World Leader Pretend
The Wrong Child
Orange Crush
I Remember California
