Geocache Description:

This cache will give you information about the history of Christoph House in Dyersville, Iowa.

MR. & MRS. MICHAEL CHRISTOPH

Michael and Anna Barbara Christop, the parents of Hon. John Christoph, emigrated from Bavaria to America in 1844 and settled for two years at St. Louis. In 1846 the came to Dubuque County and farmed near Dyersville.

During the first years they belonged to the St. Boniface Parish in New Vienna, they walked 4 1/2 miles to attend church.

Michael Christoph was buried in the New Vienna, Barbara died in November 12. 1887 at the age of 82 and was buried in the St. Francis Cemetery.

This stone house was completely taken apart stone by stone, marked and re-assembled on the current location by Bob Wilhelm of Dyersville, Iowa.
