A short hike to glorious views from a cache.
Start at Rawnsley Park cabins and find the marked walk to Allison’s Saddle which starts just west of cabin 1 and the stone fireplace. It should take 30-45 minutes round trip. There are glorious views of Wilpena Pound and the Elder Ranges from the top. You can also watch the sun set as it’s an easy walk home to the cabins and caravan park.
The cache can be seen from the cairn.
Raven advises that if on the way down you collect sticks for roasting marshmallows the difficulty factor goes up ½ point.
Serious walkers can continue to Clem Squared Corner (GC837E) or consider planting their own caches at Pines Cave and/or Kangaroo Gap to provide a full day of hiking and caching.
The cache started with butterfly beads. There is only room for very small swaps.
