Geocache Description:

Permit number 12-12 issued by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (Fahenstock State Park office) on June 25, 2012; expires June 25, 2014.

A small container located in an interesting rock formation along an unmarked trail in Hudson Highlands State Park.

Bac drives past this trailhead at least once a week and has been wanting for some time to know where it goes. On June 15, we found out! It is a back entrance to Hudson Highlands State Park. The parking coordinates are for a small pull-off on Route 403. An unmarked but well-travelled trail leads away from the pull-off almost parallel to 403.  The trail runs along the boundary of the State Park and eventually connects up with the yellow trail. Along it we found a very interesting feature, that reminded Mac of the ancient artwork at Easter Island. See if you agree! We actually walked right past this spot on the way up to scout out locations for L-3 1K, and didn't notice it until we were almost back to the car! It's almost, but not quite, a park & grab. The trail runs along a swamp for part of its way so bring the bug spray during the summer.

The cache container is a small lock-and-lock that we won in the Geo Jamboree 10 raffle.
