The cache is a small lock'n'lock hidden on a gorgeous and historic trail. According to the Metchosin Heritage Site sign at the trailhead, "This is part of the original footpath that was cut through the forest by the first settlers in the early 1850's. At that time it was their only overland route between Sooke and Victoria. This is one of the oldest colonial trails still in use in the Province." This trail (which also appears to go by the name "The Deep Woods Trail"), winds its way through an amazing mossy forest. The cache originally contained a logbook, pencil, and one trading item. The real treasure here is the beautiful location!

Enjoy!
