This cache is on private property. There is ample parking available at the parking coordinates. As you approach the cache please stay on the grass area, the area outside the lawn is a preservation area for the native plants. Please respect the gates and make use of the stairs and paths available.
From this cache you can drink up the breath taking view atop the Golden Mile Bench. The Golden Mile is a grape growing region that is on the west side of the South Okanagan valley. This area is well known as one of the best grape growing regions in the Okanagan. The mile is a series of alluvial fans created by mudslides over thousands of years. In the distance to the east you can See Mt. Baldy, one of the tallest peaks in the area.
While you are searching for the cache why don’t you make it an education experience? The vineyard you are standing in is an interpretive demonstration vineyard. The varietals growing are Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Here you can learn the differences between each. Along the edge there are also interpretive signs on some of the native plants including the Antelope Brush (Black Sage), Prickly pear cactus (jumping Cactus) and Smooth Sumac.
This is a bird watchers paradise with California Quail, Hawks, Bullocks Oriels, Flickers and more. You may even see some of the Blue birds that have been nesting in the boxes set up around the property.
Once you have found the cache sit back on the bench under the arbour and enjoy the scenery. You are in one of the most beautiful parts of the world.
