Geocache Description:

Rustic Road R78:  A Wall

Rustic Road R78:  A Wall cache will take you into the sticks, between Tomahawk and Merrill, on the west side of the Wisconsin River. Mark and I enjoy driving these backroads when we want a scenic drive in the countryside.  While searching for our caches in the sticks, we hope you, too, enjoy the beauty of the Wisconsin Northwoods.

Per Wisconsin Dept of Transportation Travel Information site: R78 is a 4 mile stretch of Tesch Road, a paved road, begining and ending on County Highway E, in Lincoln County.  R78 meanders through hardwood trees and across the New Wood River.  The northern portion of this route is adjacent to the Bill Cross Rapids Wildlife Area, which is home to eagles, osprey, deer, bears, wolves, mink and otters.  The traveler will see Copper School, a historic one room schoolhouse, at the southern end of the road.

This little stretch of Rustic Road take one between a carved out wall of rock on either side of the road. This winding road is spectacular year-round, especially at the end of Fall when the colorful leaves have fallen and the rock walls are exposed.

Enjoy the drive and cache searches!

Small mint tin, magnetic.

Cache named after an instrumental piece "A WALL IN NYC", which Todd Rundgren wrote and described as "the soundtrack to a multimedia presentation about a spontaneous wall of letters to 9/11 victims".   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iQcGl02LrA
