alandb: This was in a pretty secure container, so I think it a casualty of the 2020 derecho. Time for it to go.

The Squaw Creek Park trails are popular with hikers, geocachers, mountain bike riders and horseback riders. However, I don't see many people using the South Loop Trail so I thought I would place a couple of geocaches along this trail to encourage people to enjoy its beauty.
The trailhead is about 50 feet south of the designated parking area and is clearly marked. When you get to the fork, go left and cross the creek, then keep right when the trail splits again.
The South Loop Trail starts in a grassy prairie then winds through areas of dense canopy and small clearings along the creek. It is a wide grassy well maintained trail for easy hiking with no steep hills. It is a great place to spot local wildlife ... birds, insects, turkeys, deer and an occasional fox. The trail ends in a loop about 1.2 miles in, so you hike back out the same way you came in.
This is the second of three caches with a critter theme along the South Loop Trail. This cache is in a wooded area about 100 feet off the trail on a sandy ridge. You will need to climb a small hill to get to the cache. If you find the critter trail going off the main trail, it will take you right to the cache. The container has a pencil to sign the log and has room for small swag items. The cache is tethered so it doesn't get washed down the hill. Please leave the tether and camo as you found it.
Cache placed with permission from Linn County Conservation and Squaw Creek Park Ranger. .
*** Congratulations to shabs and JDLC1936 for making the hike on a very hot day to claim FTF ***
