Geocache Description:

The cache is a military first aid box placed on the Red trail North of Lake Sterling.

You hiked all this way out here and now you need…

The cache is filled with items that you might suddenly find a need for, basic first aid etc.

Start your hike from the Lake Sterling campground.  The cache is placed near the “red” trail from Lake Sterling to Mossy Pond.  The trail passes a lake that is a popular camping spot for the Boy Scouts from the near by Camp Cole (formerly Glacial Trails).  This was my favorite lake as a scout.  The camping areas are on the SE side of the lake so I set the cache between the trail and the camp area.  At GZ you will find an old tree that has been bonsai by nature.
You can approach the cache from many directions but to make it easier I have added a reference point “Break from red trail here”. This is also where the new yellow trail starts. Follow the yellow for about 100 yds then you can turn left when the trail turns right. Note a marker on the trail. Following your arrow from here should give you a much easier approach.
After crossing the dam the red trail can be hard to find. The trail breaks off at N39° 21.463’ W120° 29.523’ (Red Trail split).

For detailed driving directions, trail info and trail map, visit the Lake Sterling cache page GC57M2W (related web page).

Congratulations to Paracelsus and BooDogMama for the FTF.
