Relatively few people seem to know about it, but a small population of fireflies has existed for at least the past 10 years in Logan Canyon near the Tony Grove turnoff. Our family has enjoyed this marvel of nature on numerous occasions. Best viewing is generally from July 4 to July 24 between the hours of 10:00 PM and midnight. Be prepared to be amazed if you’ve never seen fireflies before.
The cache is a micro container hanging about eye level in the edge of a willow bush at the entrance to a small hidden meadow near the center of this little firefly colony. The cache is about 75 feet from the edge of the gravel road. Bring a flashlight, but use it only sparingly if you want to see the show. Fireflies are a little shy, so be quiet and patient as you wait for them there in the darkness. BYOP.
