Geocache Description:


This event takes place at Deming Park on the east side of Terre Haute. Easily accessible from I-70 & SR46(exit 11)

You can attend as a spectator, judge or participant.
As a participant.... You will need to form a team of 4 members.
One game requires a canoe.
The canoe WILL BE PROVIDED. You DO NOT need to bring your own. One game requires special equipment. It is something that almost every geocacher has.
If after the game has started, you realize you don't have it, you will be permitted to ask around.
Three games require the whole team. To prevent the same team members from being used all the time,
each team member is only allowed to participate in 2 additional games.
There will be awards for the winners of each game as well as an overall award
for most points earned throughout the entire GEOlympics event.
Anyone willing to help out with expenses, let me know.
If you would like to help out in any other way let me know.
We will be near picnic shelters and tables for you to prepare your own lunch during the event.

You no longer need to supply your own canoe for your team. I have heard that people want to participate, but are having trouble finding a canoe. So, all teams will use my canoe and each team will be timed and we will go off of the times. I have heard of several teams in the making. The special equipment cache is inexpensive, but I'd rather not buy the stuff for a bunch of them and not need them. So, I am setting a team limit of seven teams. The first seven teams to register will participate. If you can't get a team together, let me know that you'd like to be an alternate in case someone's team member can't show up. If you have a team registered, but at the last minute someone can't come...you will still be allowed to participate. I will find you an alternate. REMEMBER, you do not need to participate to attend. We need spectators to watch these people and cheer them on!

Registration will start at 10AM and we will begin the games at 10:30AM
When you get your team together, please reister online HERE. This is not set in stone, but gives me an idea of who is participating. The first seven teams to register get to participate!

The games are as follows....

FTF Marathon(1 team member)
Each participant receives a new cache notification and races to be FTF. Three caches will be placed in the same spot and labeled 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. When you find it, stealthily grab your cache and head back to the start. When the first, second and third place caches have been brought back to the start, the game is over.

5K Race(1 team member)
A 5-stage multi-cache with a letter K at each stage, color coded for each team. Each participant will receive the coordinates to the first letter K which has the coords for the next one. To win you must have all 5 color coded Ks and return to the start. The first three returning with all 5Ks will place 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the order they returned.

Canoe Race(2 team members)
The team members will carry a canoe and navigate through a series of obstacles using a GPSr to guide the way. This will be a timed event.

Fencing(1 team member)
3 nanos(labeled for 1st, 2nd and 3rd) will be placed on a fence in various locations and participants will search for them. Whichever cache is brought back, that is the place they get. The game stops when all 3 caches are brought back.

GPS relay(4 team members)
Each participant will received a starting location and a target location. The first participant will start with a GPS and enter the target location and navigate to it, which is the second participant's starting location. They hand the GPS to the second paricipant. The second participant enters their target location into the GPS and navigates to that spot, where #3 is waiting. #3 goes to #4 and #4 goes to the finish.

Special Olympics(2 team members)
Each team will receive an identical cache. They will need to determine what special equipment is required and get the logbook, each sign it legibly with their username and show it to a designated judge.

JUDGED EVENTS(Voted on by a selected panel of judges)

CITO Challenge(4 team members)
Each team is given a trash bag to pick up trash around the park. At the end of 30 minutes, trash bags will be judge based on how full the bag is.

FTF Dance(1 team member)
Self explanatory

Synchronized Searching(4 team members)
An amplified CD player and laptop will be available for music. 4 team members will "search" around a tree in a synchronized fashion to music.
