Geocache Description:

 

Take a tour of Hokah and find the numbers needed to get the final location. All these locations will be near signs that will tell more of the history of the city.


You will be going on a short tour of Hokah and explore some of the history of the city. For this cache you will be visiting the Main street area particularly city hall. Make sure you look for the number needed for the final cache.

 

The City Hall:

 

Was built in 1938 as a WPA project, has a long history as the government and social center for the city of Hokah.  Prior to renovation it was also used on a regular basis by Bluff  

Country Learning Options and St. Peter’s school for gym activities.  The Hokah Public Library occupies the lower level.

 

Main Street:

 

A 1933 business directory of Hokah included ;  four general stores, three service stations, two cafes, a bank, car dealership, meat market, flour mill, hardware and lumber store, cheese factory, creamery, barbershop, newspaper, automotive repair shop, as well as several individuals engaged in a service type business.  

 

 

Permission to place this cache here granted by the Hokah Library Director, Library hours are as follows:

 

Mon: 2-8

Tues: 9-12 / 6-8

Thurs: 2-8

Fri: 10-12 / 2-8

Sat: 10-12

From Nov. 1st to Apr. 30th

 

During these times you may need to use more stealth, but the librarians are aware of the cache. Stop in and say thanks!
