Geocache Description:

This is a three stage multi located among the bluffs of the Fallen Rock Wildlife Area.

The park is open from 6am to 10:30pm. Hunting is allowed in some areas and you should wear blaze orange if visiting during hunting season.

This 122 acre state preserve may be accessed through Tower Rock, Fallen Rock Wildlife Area or the Iowa River. The property has many unique attributes including the native sandstone bluffs that in some places are more than 100 feet high. This area also offers many rare species of plant life including native white pines, as well as yellow and white birch trees. Fallen Rock State Preserve offers fishing, hunting, and hiking along the Iowa River.

The Wildlife area covers 204 acres of land. An eagle’s nest was located in the northern edge of the area, started in 2003 and became active in 2004.

Please be VERY cautious seeking this challenging multi cache.  At many points the trail comes near the sheer sandstone bluffs where a wrong step could mean falling nearly 100 feet straight down!  I do not recommend this cache for children or solo cachers.  Bring a buddy if possible.  Rock climbing is prohibitted in the park and is not necessary to find the cache.  If you don't feel comfortable with any of the stages, please don't attempt them.  Significant hiking is involved with this cache so please bring plenty of water, and maybe a snack or two.

The first two stages are matchstick containers and the final is a small lock and lock container.

You may park at either the Tower Rock parking area to the north, or the Fallen Rock parking area to the south. If you have a second vehicle you may wish to leave one at each and hike from one end to the other. I will list parking coords for both locations.
