Geocache Description:

This cache is located in a Glacial Habitat Restoration Area, just east of Omro, near Spring Brook. There is a hiking trail which starts from the gate by the parking area. As you approach the cache, look towards the north. What is that on top of that power line pole? A nest (visit link) with a view! This is favorite area for waterfowl, doves, deer and even a few turkeys.

The hike out is about 200 yards with small trees and brush along what used to be a fence line. This area is popular for hunting in fall. I placed the cache in a location to avoid conflicts with that activity. The cache is located just off the trail and is large enough to contain small swag. Kids may take one swag item without making a trade. Please bring your own writing utensil. "Where Eagles Dare" (visit link) is also my favorite World War 2 action movie, starring a young Clint Eastwood.

This property is part of the Glacial Habitat Restoration Area (GHRA) which was established in 1990 to restore 38,600 acres of grasslands and 11,000 acres of wetlands to increase populations of ring-necked pheasants, waterfowl, and grassland songbirds in 24 townships in Dodge, Fond du Lac, Columbia and Winnebago Counties. DNR management of this area for wildlife, will allow continued restoration efforts, and provide additional opportunities for public recreation and education.

NOTE--- Cache will be disabled during the 2013 deer gun season (Nov. 23 - Dec. 1) and antlerless deer season (Dec. 12 - 15) for safety reasons.

A geocache notification form (visit link) was submitted to Bryan Woodbury at the DNR headquarters in Oshkosh. Approval was granted to place this cache. DNR approval is preferred before placing geocaches on DNR controlled lands. Caches should not be placed until the form is submitted to the appropriate DNR land manager.

There was a FTF prize: An unactivated micro geocoin- Virtual Ghost Icon.
---Congrats to early bird CodeJunkie for another First to Find!
