No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. The water really is that blue. Once a majestic waterfall, Tamolitch Falls (aka Blue Pool) now flows underground and emerges in a pristine pool. In the 1960’s, water from the falls was diverted for hydroelectric use. The water is so clear; the pool looks like it’s only a few feet deep. It’s actually up to 30 feet in some places. Part of the McKenzie River Trail, hikers and bikers flock to Tamolitch during the summer, but only the really brave dare to take a dip. The water comes straight from spring-fed Clear Lake so it stays chilly year-round.
