How Geocaching Works

Soft Shell Turtles are one of the more unique species that you’re going to find and they’re a great addition to your pond. They get their name from their soft shell structure, which lacks spiny scutes common in most other species. Their shell actually has a leathery feel to it and is light and somewhat flexible.
This aquatic species is very active underwater. Like most aquatic species it’s only capable of swallowing its food when it’s submerged. They love to eat small fish and insects, but they also enjoy turtle pellets as well. Their elongated, snorkel-like nostrils make them one of the most unique-looking and interesting aquatic turtles you’ll ever see. They thrive in warmer climates and will give you years of joy observing! If you have any questions about caring for your Soft Shell turtle, please contact our turtle care experts!
