So, I set off to hide this cache on a clear bright and slightly frosty Winter's morning. I was hoping it was not going to be too muddy, but I was wearing my wellies, so it was hopefully not going to be too bad. Arriving at the car park, I parked up the car in an area where I was encouraged by the fact that the the surface was made up of seperate hard lumps and was then I rewarded with some hazelnuts growing nearby. I like nuts and find them hard to pass. Thus distracted, I set off up the footpath and right away I found that it was all watery, in fact with no solid pieces it was entirely liquid. Aagh! but not as deep as the tops of my wellies. Quickly the mud texture changed to soft blobs and the path had clear cut edges, so I passed easily along. There is lots of bracken about the area but it's dying back at this time of year. It still covers the ground pretty well and at one point I gave a start at a branch that looked exactly like a snake, but I realised that it was too smooth and I was just going soft. And then onto another swampy part of the route. Here the mud was watery and there were no solid pieces of footpath to be found, in fact it was entirely liquid once more. "You silly sausage" I chided myself, but soon I was back on dry but lumpy ground, and I had finally arrived at the cache location.
