This cache is the rehiding of the Holy Cross. The owner of the original cache was Somloci, has passed away, so we had to archive the old listing and had to create a new one. Let this cache the memory of Somloci.
The box has been placed on the occasion of the 7th Geocaching Festival and Competition. Péliföldszentkereszt is a small village between Bajót and Nagysáp.
There’s a well known national shrine in Péliföldszentkereszt. A lame boy had been healed there on the 30th of May 1730 according to the tradition. The first written proof of the settlement dates back to 1265, the village was mentioned as Pél. The shrine was given to the Salesians in 1913. Now a friary, and a couple of pilgrim houses can be found on the site.
