Geocache Description:

In the late 1800’s the Bridgeport Hydraulic Company (now part of Aquarion) built a stone and earth dam that created a 93 acre reservoir in this area.  A 135x75 foot ice house was built to harvest ice in the winter.  The west side was located next to the Housatonic Rail Road while the east side was located on the banks of the reservoir.  The reservoir was drained and the dam destroyed in 1935.

The cache is not at the posted coordinates, but it is very close by.
Read the description below.

As the first part of this multi-cache you will observe the foundation side that was bordered by the reservoir at the posted coordinates.  The path to this location starts at the "Start Here" reference point. I suggest that you stay on the outside of the foundation as you walk down to Stage 1. It's not a good idea to do this at night as you may end up falling off the first level of the ice house.

Determine the approximate height of the foundation to obtain the coordinates for the final cache location.  You can eye-ball it based on your own height.  No measuring tape is needed.  Pick the height from the following to determine the final location.

Less than 2-feet high – The final location is at N 41° 15.699 W 073° 12.837
Between 3 and 4-feet high – The final location is at N 41° 15.732 W 073° 12.831
More than 5-feet high – The final location is at N 41° 15.711 W 073° 12.832

The cache is a waterproof camoed match container.
