Ready to step into the shoes of our park employees, and try YOUR hand at managing Everglades National Park? This cache is a golden opportunity to do just that! The Park Employee for a Day geocache trail is comprised of five caches (including this one) that follow the path of the main park road towards Flamingo. Like the others, this is a traditional cache, which contains a particular case study that requires your attention...
This park and grab will take you to a deceptive landscape filled with small surprises. The placidity of this landscape belies the chaos that can come from just one lightning strike.
You’ll need to keep your GPS handy—this cache is not affiliated with any marked visitor area. You’ll be parking along the Main Park Road and walking a short way off-trail. Please remember to pull your vehicle completely off the road on to the wide shoulder. And be sure to watch your footing! Remember to survey the scene for snakes, insects and other wildlife before reaching for the cache. And please don’t forget to share your thoughts when you log your find.
Please Note: this geocache has been developed by Everglades National Park for the enjoyment of visitors. The placement of caches on lands managed by the National Park Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service remains generally prohibited.
