Since Geo-Clue was so much fun last year, we decided that we would continue the tradition this year with another twist!
Come play a geo-round of “Words With Cachers” during the day in Springfield and then bring your letters to this event, Saturday, February 23rd, at 5:30pm in Rink 2 of the Nelson Center to see if you can win Words!
How does this work? Do you remember the board game “Scrabble”? Or for you younger cachers, the app “Words With Friends”? This is a modified geocaching version of those popular games.
On Friday night before the event, new caches will be published – a list will be bookmarked here. You will have all day Saturday to visit these coordinates/caches to find "letters". Each cache found will supply you with at least one letter. It really doesn’t matter how many caches you find …there are some pretty high-scoring 3-letter words. However, the more caches found, the more letters you have to make your final word.
Bring your letters to the event at 5:30pm to the Birthday Party Room in Rink 2 of the Nelson Center (the ice rink in Lincoln Park). We will then see who can make the highest-scoring word with the letters they found in caches to win a prize!
We will be supplying a few snacks (like chili con queso). Bring some of your favorite finger foods to share (since you will be driving around in your car before the event ...we didn’t want you to have to figure out how to bring a side dish, or other potluck item -- think chips, brownies, etc).
After the festivities are done, we can all go get pizza somewhere in the tradition of recent February CIGA Springfield events. There are some decent pizza parlors close by.
Please don’t try to get to the Party Room before 5:30 -- there are other scheduled events in there before us.
