Geocache: Looking for a hidden container using a GPS
Rogaine: Looking for a series of controls on foot using a map and compass within a defined time period.
GEOGAINE: Looking for a series of hidden containers on foot using a GPS within a defined time period.
It's on again! Grab your partner for the fourth GEOGAINE. This event will be held in South Australia in conjunction with the Twilight 4 hour Rogaine organised by the South Australian Rogaining Association.
This year the event will be in the north-eastern foothills centred around Athelstone. Your task will be to find as many temporary geocaches in 3 hours on foot as possible while trying for the highest possible score. (Think of the June long weekend events but without the cars.) There will be 16 temporary geocaches hidden within an easy walk of the starting location which is called the Hash House. With four caches of four difficulty levels from Very Easy to Hard to get you started, each of these initial geocaches will contain the coordinates to a further 3 geocaches of that difficulty. Each of the sixteen small camouflaged geocaches (no micros) will have a point value from 10 to 90 points depending on the difficulty of the hide.
Rogaines and geogaines are enjoyed by all ages, and with a number of team categories based on gender and age there are many chances of getting recognition for your efforts without finding all 16 containers. This event traditionally finishes with a meal of pizza and fruit.

Please also note that this event starts at 5:30 pm. Aim to get to the event an hour before the start to allow time to register, get your gear sorted so that you are ready to hit the road at 5:30.
