Geocache Description:

TECO/VFT Trails Event

Want something to do the Friday before GeoWoodstock XI?? Come on out to Auburndale's Lake Myrtle Park to meet some of the local geocachers. The event will last from 7am - 1pm. This is a great place to meet not only some of the local cachers but other cachers from all over the world. Come and hang out for as long as you want. There is a great Rails-to-Trail path that goes through the park that you might want to explore while in the area for the weekend. Make sure to bring your bike.

The event location

The location of this event should be convenient for those coming into town for GeoWoodstock on 5/25.  The Lake Myrtle Park is toward the beginning of the TECO Trail.  There are approximately 30 caches along the 6.6 mile trail.  The Auburndale TECO Trail ties into the 29 mile General James A Van Fleet State Trail, which has around 200 caches along it.  Along the TECO and VF trails there are a couple of the Polk County Trek Ten Trails caches. Trek Ten is a Polk County annual event that helps use geocaching to showcase some of the Polk County Trails.

There will be posts in the GeoWoodstock Forums as well as a Facebook Event page where you can connect with other geocachers coming into the area. There will be some local geocachers around to assist as well.

The waypoints for the event page have all the primary trailheads for both trails.

About g8orRaiders' Project 365

Project 365 was a yearlong project during 2011 to create 365 new caches in the Central Florida area. My goal during 2010 had been to find at least one cache every day to complete my 365 grid. Since I completed that with the help of a lot of local geocachers I wanted to return the favor and place some new caches in my normal caching area.

Since I started caching, not a day goes by when I don't pass an area and think "That's a good spot for a cache". I think I found most of them and a few more throughout that year!

The Project 365 caches there are a variety ranging from easy park and grabs to difficult. Some will be power runs, some may make you take a long hike or bike ride, while others may require a boat or kayak.  While you are in the area for GeoWoodstock see how many you can find!
