A short walk alongside the old Explosives Storage area of Black Holt.
The large double wire fenced compound used to be the RAF Coningsby ESA (explosives storage area) or bomb dump, very much in use during the cold war years but after the Berlin wall came down in 1989 and with the easing of tensions the area gradually fell out of use before finally being sold off in 2012. It is a great haven for wildlife with many species of bird to be seen. As of July 2020 the cache is now extremely well camouflaged, so search diligently and don't discard anything.
