Geocache Description:

It doesn't get much better than an ammo box in the woods! This cache was placed to coincide with the Second Greater Milwaukee Geo-Dog Social GC44A3D.

This cache is located within 25 feet of the first cache we ever found at this dog park. We attended our very first geocaching event in 2010 here at this dog park at the very first geo-dog social. At the time we had never been to this park and had trouble even finding the parking area.

We met so many cachers at that event and many of them have become good friends as well as caching partners on the trails. At that event we learned so many things about geocaching, including group caching, challenge caches, speed caching, sharing GPS coordinates wirelessly, how to fall in the river while caching, the geocaching battleship game, the Wisconsin Geocaching Association, temporary caches, "discovering" (instead of retrieving) geocoins & travelbugs, and how to get text notifications of new cache placements!

We have many fond memories of that first social and how it changed the game of geocaching for us into more of a social game within the geocaching community. When Dr. Dolittle recently offered to archive his existing caches in the dog park to make room for us to place new caches we were thrilled and appreciate his generosity!

We have appreciated finding so many awesome caches by so many players of the game that we welcome the opportunity to offer some new caches for others to find. This particular location was one place at the dog park we felt we could place a somewhat larger container and we have plenty of swag to fit inside of the Doggy Day Care cache container.

Dogs are allowed off leash! However, be aware that the park is only partially fenced in. There is a fee for dogs to enter the park. It's $5/day or $25/year. There is a self-serve pay station at the entrance. Humans can enter free of charge and are not required to bring a dog.

Enjoy your walk in the dog park!
