Wildcat Den - State Park Series Traditional Cache

This cache is part of a pilot project between the Iowa DNR and the IGO designed to evaluate geocaching in Iowa's state parks. The project will evaluate 25 caches at Honey Creek Park for one year. Each cache will have an approved permit.

While at Wildcat Den, take a moment to step into life in a small frontier town by visiting Pine Creek Grist Mill and Melpine Schoolhouse. Listening to the rumble of grinding wheels turning, one can almost see the miller grinding fl our for the townspeople. Tour guides share the history of the mill along with life in the 1800s.
Hiking trails help visitors enjoy the beauty of nature at Wildcat Den. Trails wind through various terrain and lead visitors past Steamboat Rock, Devil’s Punchbowl and Fat Man’s Squeeze offering spectacular views along the way.
