Deze cache voert u door een deel van Hollands duin "Berkheide" Tijdens deze wandeling komt u op bijzondere plekjes.
Honden zijn toegestaan. Er staat duidelijk vermeld wanneer en waar uw viervoeter moet zijn aangelijnd. Houd u aan de regels dan kunnen we nog lang van dit spelletje genieten. Reken op een wandeling van 9 km, ongeveer 4 uur.
De bovenstaande coördinaten zijn niet van de cache.
We schrijven het jaar 1818. Napoleon was in Nederland aan de macht, hij probeerde iedereen aan zijn wil te onderwerpen. In heel het land ontstond verzet. In Katwijk (Kattuk) ging men nog een stap verder. Smokkelen om te overleven was hier aan de orde van de dag.
Vader Knelis en zoon Wuls, twee vissers die amper het hoofd boven water konden houden vanwege de strenge regels van de Fransen, sloegen ook het smokkelpad in.
Na een gevaarlijk nachtelijk avontuur keren zij niet terug van zee en wordt hun boot leeg op het strand aangetroffen. Moeder Kee wordt bij tijd en wijle “waanzinnig” van verdriet en ontsteekt vuren in de duinen en roept over het “Hemelvuur”. De Franse douaniers worden bang van deze vrouw, en de kinderen in het dorp noemen haar de Duinheks.
Haar enige nog levende zoon Jaepik gaat in het verzet, daarbij ook de nodige smokkelwaar verkopend. In de duinen hebben zij een geheime, onvindbare schuilplaats die van onschatbare waarde blijkt. Hier wordt de smokkelwaar verstopt en als het te heet wordt onder Jaepiks voeten zal hij zichzelf hier moeten verstoppen.
Ga mee in dit verhaal, volg de waypoints en omzeil hiermee de Franse douaniers.

This cache will lead you through a large part of Hollands Duin Berkheide. On this walk you will visit some special places. Dogs are allowed. It is clearly marked where and when your pet should be leashed. Please adhere to the rules and we can enjoy our game for a long time yet. The walk is about 9 km.

The year is 1818. Napoleon was in control of The Netherlands, trying to get everybody to submit to his will. Resistance arose throughout the land. In Katwijk (Kattuk, in local dialect) people went one step further. Smuggling for survival was the order of the day. Father Knelis and his son Wuls, two fishermen struggling to stay alive because of the strict rules of the French occupants, took to smuggling as well. After a hazardous nightly adventure they never returned from the sea and their boat is found empty on the beach. Mother Kee slowly starts going “insane” with sadness and light fires in the dunes, calling out about “Heavenly Fire”. The French customs officers are afraid of this woman and the children in town call her the Dune Witch. Her only living son Jaepik joins the resistance, meanwhile selling the occasional contraband. Their secret hideout in the dunes proves to be of a immense value. This is where they hide their goods and when things start to heat up for Jaepik he’ll have to hide there himself. Join us in this story, avoid the French customs and discover the secret hideout.
