This is the tenth anniversary of the World Wide Flash Mob. To celebrate this occasion, Geocachers around the world meet for a spontaneous flash mob that only lasts 15 minutes, at exactly the same time.
Events have already been scheduled in Ireland, Canada, France, Belgium, etc… A flash mob is a gathering of people that perform something out of the ordinary and then disperse suddenly. This should make lots of people curious and wonder what just happened. If you participate in this event, then know that you were part of something worldwide. The goal is to have 100 countries participate this year.
For this flash mob, you have to show up near the coordinates before the designated time. When the signal is alerted, everyone that is attending should make their way to the Big Dam Bridge. Please, do not stand directly at GZ before the designated time. The whole point is that we come from all different directions. There might be problems with parking, so I would make sure you get there early to make sure you can walk to the area in time before 12 p.m. Make sure you act like a Muggle and try to not clump together so that it doesn’t look suspicious. Act like strangers from each other, until the actual time.
WWFM is on Saturday, May 4th, better known as “May the 4th Be With You.” Please, bring anything that resembles a lightsaber. You could bring a plastic sword, a long stick, a toy lightsaber, umbrella, or anything you can think of resembling a light saber. Be creative!
Order of Events
12:00-12:05—Geocachers will hold their “lightsabers” in the air while they walk up the bridge to the coordinates. It would be great if a few people start off at first, and then the numbers grow exponentially. As you reach GC, place a 3x5 notecard with your geocaching name and real name into the bucket. This will be the attendance log.
12:05-12:10—Assemble for group photo.
12:10-12:15—Sharing of a meal (Milky Way bars in honor of A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…)
12:15—Disperse into parts unknown.
