Geocache Description:

Enjoy a hike along the West Ridge Trail in the Kickapoo Valley Reserve.

Back in the early 1960s the land that you are on was held by private farmers.  The Kickapoo River runs deep in the valley and the government decided that it would build a dam to help control the floods.  Thousands of acres of family farm land was sold to the government under not so great terms.  While hiking out on the trails I noticed the huge oak tree and the remains of a fence line.  A fence that was once a boundry to the cattle.  Those days are now long gone and cattle no longer roam the hills of the valley.  Enjoy a rest while you search for a bison tube!! This cache is placed with the permission of Property Manager Jason Lies. The Kickapoo Valley reserve requires that all geocaches placed on the property owned by the Kickapoo Valley Reserve have a geocaching notification form fill out and turn in to them before placing a cache.
