Today, Thursday 25th April 2013, is the Early Spring Full Moon, also called Seed Moon, Sprouting Grass Moon, Fish Moon, Growing Moon, and Waking Moon.
The lunar eclipse on the same day marks the first eclipse of any kind in 2013, and by sheer cosmic coincidence it is occurring during the April full moon (although not visible on this side of the world), which is also known as the "Pink" Full Moon. It is the first, and likely the best, of three lunar eclipses occurring this year.
A full moon has a special effect on the landscape and is a real treat. No need of a torch.
The lit church on the hill in the distance acts as a beacon in the night.
