Cache hidden at rest area managed by Missouri Department of Tourism.
Welcome to Missouri! Or to be more specific, the Missouri Bootheel. Located in extreme southeastern Missouri, often called "swampeast Missouri", this area was once a great swamp until drained, cleared and adapted for agricultural use. This area produces mostly cotton and soybeans, but has increasingly been producing corn and rice. Composed of only three counties, Dunklin, New Madrid, and Pemiscot, this area was once destined to be part of Arkansas, however, an area landowner wanted to be included in Missouri.
