Fort Snelling National Cemetery was established in 1870, encompasses 436.3 acres, and is the resting place of over 200,000 of our nation's heroes.
This tour will take you to the graves of some of the notable people buried within the cemetery. The entire tour is around 2.5 miles long and comprises about a dozen stages. You are welcome to walk or drive. If driving, please be careful when parking, and be aware that this is an active cemetery, so be respectful of any services in progress. Please respect the speed limits and parking rules.
I was unaware of the historical significance of the cemetery and some of the notable interments at the cemetery until I started investigating it for this geocache. I hope you find it informative as well!
You will need to download the cartridge to play on a compatible device. I have built the cartridge to be playable on any platform. It was tested on an iPhone. There is a known bug with the iPhone app in iOS7 that only the first few images are displayed; until the app is fixed, you will be unable to view all of the images associated with the cartridge on that device. Luckily, the images are NOT necessary for the completion of the tour.
