Geocache Description:

Welcome to Geashill, a charming, picturesque village halfway between Tullamore and Portarlington, in the heart of Co. Offaly. It's built heritage evolved during the 18th.century,the Castle dates from the 12th.but it's history can be traced right back to accounts of the excommununication of St. Columba at a synod held here in 550 A.D.

You can park in front of the Post Office across from The Green, and walk by the side of the P.O. through the entrance to the Glebe Walk. You will see the Insect Hotel on your right, a reminder to children and adults alike of the need to provide habitat for wild life. As you walk on keep watch for red squirrell, buzzard or kestrel. If you spot any, please report the sighting in the cache log book. After a short stroll you will reach a clearing where you can take a seat, but not until you've found the cache a few metres away. Look under the foot of the skinny lime with the long scar on its leg.
