This cache has been archived.

IOWAChupacabra: Ground zero of this cache has been razed/clear cut/graded. Thus all beacons were removed, as well as the cache containers. (A recent cacher confirmed the status.)

It's been a fun ride, but we now have to archive.

Geocache Description:

9th in the VIce-Presidential Series.

Richard Mentor Johnson served as VP under President Martin Van Buren.  It is reported that while in the military, Johnson personally killed the Shawnee chief Tecumseh.  In 1836 when running with Van Buren, Johnson's political slogan was "Rumpsey Dumpsey, Rumpsey Dumpsey, Colonel Johnson Killed Tecumseh."  Maybe it had music, although I doubt that would improve it much.  Johnson is the only VP to take office under the 12th Amendment.  Virginia's delegation to the Electoral College failed to given him their votes despite winning the popular totals, so the US Senate elected him Vice-President. His party felt that he had become a liability and refused to renominate him. President Van Buren ran without a running mate and lost.

The cache is a large Micro or a small Small.  Be safe.  Have fun!

** A note from IowaChupacabra: Hello! I am attempting to maintain Blue Grass Tom’s geocaches. Have fun as you travel and explore up and down these Iowa back country roads to find the geocaches in this series. As you do so, if you happen upon a wet log, torn bag, or cracked/damaged/missing container, and graciously make the choice to add/replace paper/bag or change out/replace a container, I would certainly appreciate it and Thank You for the help. I attempt to make a run through the area every few months to fix the problems noted in the logs, but there’s always something! Thank You!
