Geocache Description:

Please DO NOT park on Elmhurst ! Drive up Williams Bay Rd to the end and turn around, about half way down on your left you will get a beautiful view of the Williams Homestead. Park on the hill, look for the path through the weeds in the summer, (STOP... change of location where to park, DO NOT take the path across the ravine!!! I just checked on the cache and when I jumped across on the rock, I saw a black & white tail disappear into a hole in the side of the ravine by the big rock....... ) SO I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you park further down the hill at the start of Williams Bay Rd :) Please stay on the North side of the fence to locate the cache, do not disturb rocks, go into the landscaping or go after dark. Enjoy watching the cows if they are there, but do not bother or try to pet them. Over 165 years ago on May 29, 1848 Wisconsin became a state, 12 years before that in 1836, William JD Williams immigrated from Wales, England to start a homestead in this area. Six generations later, Lloyd Williams is continuing their heritage of raising corn, beans and dairy cows for milk. The lush pasture on the North side of the farm house is used for many things. In the summer, you might see cows and calves that are being prepared to be shown at the county and state fairs. Pampering may include special diets, regular washing and brushing. This area is also a maternity area for expecting cows, and yes, every one is given a name :) Williams Homestead Farms is also starting to produce their own cheese, bringing back the “Bom-Bree Brick” recipe was brought over from France about 1930. It was produce for many years in a cheese plant in Mapleton, WI. which closed its’ doors many years ago. The William’s worked with those cheese makers to bring the cheese back into production here at the Williams Homestead Farm. The cheese will be available locally in stores for the first time in many years. It is amazing how close this cheese recipe was to becoming a thing of the past without anyone ever tasting it again. Please carefully place the cache back just as you found it. Should be plenty of swag to trade for the kids. Have permision from Mr Williams to place this cache.
