The Reef Campground is the first of two national forest campgrounds near the end of Carr Canyon Rd. The road is rough in places but can usually be driven by any vehicle. However after heavy rains it may require high clearance and or 4WD.
This area is a great place to spend the day picnicking, rock hounding (near the creek), sightseeing, hiking and camping.
There is a historical trail of about 3/4 of a mile in length that starts at the end of the campground road.
While the container is regular in size, it is an odd shape and so cannot hold large TB's or swag. I left a pen in it, but as always, it would be a good idea to bring your own writing instrument.
