A geocache along the 5K Soren Sorenson Trail on Mount Revelstoke.
The wet forests of the Selkirks on lower slopes have a mix of trees, but are predominantly cedar and hemlock. Some old growth cedar can be seen along this trail.
Western red-cedar (Thuja plicata) wood resists decay which is a very useful trait in the wet regions of British Columbia. First Nations peoples used the tree for many purposes including baskets, clothing, houses, dugout canoes, fishing nets and even baby diapers.
This geocache and the others placed by this owner were authorized by Parks Canada, following established policies and procedures (link). Please read the guidelines and support responsible geocaching in our National Parks.
