jtcoffee: The zoo is no longer totally closed, but it is unclear when this area will be available again. It is also much harder for me to maintain the caches, especially with minimal access.

About the geocache

This geocache was created and placed by Zoo University teen campers at Woodland Park Zoo in summer 2013 studying the tools of field research. The campers tested their skills with geocaching as they mastered GPS units.

About the Location

This geocache is placed with permission from Groundspeak and Woodland Park Zoo. Woodland Park Zoo is a non-profit organization whose mission is to save animals and their habitats through conservation leadership and engaging experiences, inspiring people to learn, care and act. This is a multi-stage cache located in the Woodland Park Zoo. In order to find the first stage keep your eyes peeled for a frozen cat.  You'll have to use your Powers of Observation to find the coordinates for the final stage! The cache at the final stage is locked to keep out muggles.

To open the lock: The code word is the type of animal on a nearby banner. Take the four-letter word, and remove the vowel. Match the three remaining letters to the numbers on a phone keypad. Checksum: 12
Items are available for trade in the caches. Please do not trade balls, straws, or flying objects - they're not allowed at the zoo! And please do not trade food or gum - it attracts our wild friends.
